GERALD K. WATSON
Gerald Watson was born in Thunder
Bay, Ontario and moved to Kamloops in 1977. He graduated from Kamloops
Senior Secondary in 1989 and then attended the University College of the
Cariboo for three years before transferring to UBC Law in 1992. Gerald
was called to the bar in 1996. Gerald is an active member of the
community and has been a school board trustee for SD73 for 11 years, is a past
President of the Rotary Club of Kamloops (17 year member) and is a past
President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops and Region (17 year
Director). Gerald was recently elected to the British Columbia Public Sector
Employer’s Association Board of Directors (BCPSEA) to support employer side
bargaining in the Education sector and has been appointed to the British
Columbia School Trustee’s Association (BCSTA) committee pending the anticipated
reconfiguration of BCPSEA. Gerald is an avid skier, swimmer and tennis
player.

DEREK HAINES
Derek Haines was born and raised in Kamloops. He graduated from Brocklehurst Secondary School and then went to Cariboo College (now known as TRU) and finished his undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1991. He then attended law school at the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1995. Derek articled in Kamloops and was called to the bar as a lawyer in 1996. Derek has continued to work as a lawyer in Kamloops ever since. Derek is married, has two stepdaughters, two sons and a daughter. Derek has sat on several Boards around town and is an active member in the community. Derek volunteers his time among various groups such as, Ducks Unlimited, Operation Rednose, and KIBIHT. Derek continues to coach or has coached his children in basketball, baseball, soccer, and hockey.
